Kobi Nazrul - Primary School

Stay Home EYFS

Jemima - Hi everyone, I hope your are all doing well and enjoying the lovely weather.

Today me, my mum and little brother went out for a walk. It’s very warm today with a bit of warm breeze. The sky is blue with a little bit of cloud around. The sun is shining very bright. On the floor we saw a lot of berries which have fallen off the trees. We also saw a lot of pigeons around.

Sunny weather makes me feel very happy and this week will be very hot. Today we did a video about the weather at home.

Last week i enjoyed drawing raspberries and honey melon. These have been my favourite fruits this month.

I have also been practising doubling numbers using my fingers and with my toys. We practised doubling numbers using food objects too when we did a food investigation at home.
I have also been practising doing subtractions from work sheets.

I turned 5 last week and it was very nice to see Sara and aunty for a few minutes outside. ♥️

Have a good week everyone ♥️

Sara - Hello to all my teachers and friends.
I hope you are all well.

I’ve been playing board games a lot this weekend, practicing turn-taking as well as number skills.

I like to win and am learning to accept that I can’t always do so! Mummy says to keep trying and enjoy taking part.

I miss you all and hope to see you soon.

Lots of love ❤️

Safwaan - Hello everyone . I miss my freinds alot

Subaita - Hello everyone...😃😃

Amanda - 1st June 2020

Hello! I hope that you have all had a lovely half - term break. Thank you for sending in your Eid photos - it was lovely to see some of you having a great time celebrating with your families.

Assiyah, I agree with you - Danyaal, you made a fabulous road map - thank you for sharing! I am glad to hear that you are enjoying watching the WhatsApp videos and that you are working hard on learning how to 'take away' too! I am glad that you have started to grow your cress seeds. Soon, we will go back to our edible garden project so that we can continue planning how we would like our garden to develop.

Jemima - it sounds like you have been very busy indeed! I am really glad that you are finding the videos useful for learning about the butterfly life cycle and can tell that you are remembering lots of new information! Thank you for sharing what you know with us.

I am really excited to start the second half term because there are still so many facinating things for us to learn and explore as part of our 'Love Your World' topic.

PARENTS AND CARERS: If there are some learning activities that you have not managed to get round to doing yet, do not worry! All of the previous learning newsletters are on the website for you to go back and see what might be interesting and helpful for you. It is also fine to just get started from today, using this week's learning timetable - and I will include revision links on future letters just in case going back feels like drama. If there are any videos you have missed or cannot find among all your other WhatsApp messages (it happens....!) I am happy to resend if needed (message the school with what you would like). Thank you for all that you are doing at home!

Have a great Monday afternoon!

Amanda :-)

Assiyah - Hi everyone,

Jemima- your learning is so great! I will try playing some of those games you have mentioned.
Danyaal- I really liked your road map and how you put the doors on, great idea!
Amanda- Your videos were lovely to see. I liked seeing them turn into a cocoon (still finding it hard to say the word Chrysalis).
My cress seeds are growing! I put more water in the cotton wool and I have left them by the window. The cress seeds have grown taller and taller! I have been enjoying reading phonics books and try to read it independently. I have also been helping my mum in the kitchen. we made chicken soup and homemade bread.
Hope to do some of the activities in this weeks newsletter. I am excited to do some taking away, which I will do right now!

Jemima - Hi Amanda and everyone,

I enjoy seeing great learning and ideas from some of my friends from the short video clips.
At home we have been looking at the different life cycle of a butterfly and it’s very nice to see the videos of the caterpillars. The caterpillars are hanging upside down inside its chrysalis. It will transform its body and emerge as a butterfly soon. I can’t wait to see what colours the butterfly maybe.

I have also been working on my book ‘Where in the World’ and have been looking at countries I have visited and my mum has shown me some pictures and videos. We took some pictures of the area I live in and it’s surroundings and we have been comparing it to other parts of the world.

I have also been learning to do subtraction using blocks.
We have been playing a maths game in which my mum would say a maths question (adding or subtracting) anytime during the day and I try my best to answer it on the spot using my fingers or anything around me.
We also play a similar game trying to spell out different words.
It can be a bit difficult understanding tricky words for e.g, ‘subtraction’ so mum and me say ‘take away’ but I can forget sometimes. I am still learning the different symbols + - =.

I am looking forward to Eid and decorating the house with my parents next weekend.

Have a great week :)

Amanda - 11th May 2020

Welcome to a new week!
Thanks very much for sending in your pictures and videos of all your work - they are a delight to look at and I can see that you are all taking the opportunity to learn lots with your families which is great. Someof you have been sendig videos of yourselves singing the rhyme of the week which is lovely to see! I know lots of you like performing - so do send in a video if you would like us to hear your beautiful voices!

I hope that you find some time this week to to talk about feelings and emotions with your families. On this week's newsletter there is some planning for this. There are some things we can do to help us do this - such as making a feelings diary to draw and talk about our feelings, or listening to calm music and talking about how it makes us feel or just taking some time to 'chill out'. It is really important that we take time to think and talk about how we feel to keep our minds healthy - especially at the moment when we might be worried about the sudden changes in our lives.

If you haven't had a look yet, this electronic book might be helpful for talking about Coronavirus as a family ('Coronavirus - a book for children'): https://nosycrow.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Coronavirus-A-Book-for-Children.pdf

If you have any news, or would like to say hello to your friends, remember you too can put a message here!

Take it easy,

Amanda - May 6th 2020

Hey everyone! How are we all doing? Have any of you managed to have any walks out in the sunshine? I hope that you enjoyed seeing our caterpillars. Did you have a think about any of the questions in the video or in the newsletter? It was great talking with some of you yesterday about what you noticed. They are growing bigger and bigger each day! I will send another video update in the next few days so you can see how much they have changed. I am very much looking forward to seeing your pictures about caterpillars and talking about what we know so far!

Amanda - 1st May 2020

Wow Danyaal, nearly 100! Now that's a big number.

You should receive a video soon of our caterpillar friends who arrived earlier this week- whoop whoop! They are very eager to say hello to you all. It is really exciting that we can learn all about how caterpillars grow and change. (Parents, the video you receive via Whatsapp will show the caterpillars close up, moving and wriggling. So please prepare yourselves :-))

Your special boxes are fantastic. Please keep them safe. Next week we will start talking in more detail about our world and where we live. One of the activities will be to begin making a book about this. We will work on this for a couple of weeks and it will go in our special boxes.

Well, happy Friday. I hope you all have a great weekend.

Amanda :-)

Danyaal - Hello Amanda and my friends,

I hope you are all well, I will send a photo of my Ramadan calendar. I have lots of vehicles, too many to count, maybe near 100 (Over the weekend we will try and count how many we have). Jemima thank you, I saw your special box and it is very nice.

Bye see you soon.

Amanda - Wednesday 29th April 2020

Hi Everyone! I hope you have had a good day. Thanks for all your great photos and videos - I can see that you are all very busy. Metropolitan Class (Reception), it's been so lovely catching up with you on the phone! If I have not got to you yet, don't worry - I will still be making calls on Thursday and Friday.

Amanda :-)

Jemima - Hi Amanada, Shamsia, Repa, Assiyah and to all my friends. Hope you are all well?
Ramadan Mubarak to you all.
Amanda that’s lovely your vegetables are growing well. I have started reading from the Oxford Owl Account.
I love your phonics robot Assiyah looks very interesting and thank you for the great idea of taking pictures of objects. It was a fun activity.
Danyal good job at winning and lovely work you have been doing.
I can’t wait to come back to school and share some great ideas to my class.
On Monday i started making my special box and finished it off today and still collecting special things.
Cats are my favourite pets and I really enjoyed listening and reading the book online.
We did some phonics today and writing.

Amanda - Monday 27th April 2020

How are we all doing - a good Monday so far? I can see from the videos and pictures that you send through that you are all very busy with your familes which is a delight! Have you managed to listen to the story 'My Cat Likes to Hide in Boxes' Yet?

I am very pleased that my broad beans and radishes are growing well so far. Just like some of you are, I am learning how to look after things that grow.

I also had quite an exciting delivery today which I will share with you at the end of the week. I love that we can still learn together, even though we are not in the same place!

Hi Assiyah - yes - please do keep us posted about all your fabulous work. I can't wait to see the progress of your cress seeds! And keeping a diary is a great way to record all the changes.

Hi Danyaal! Lovely to hear from you. Well, it sounds like you are a desktop football champion! Are you giving your mum tips on how she could get better? That's great that you made a Ramadan calender - maybe you could send us a picture of your calender? And what an exciting gift - a great additoin to your vehicle collection. How many vehicles do you have altogether now?

Danyaal - Hello Amanda, Monwara, Easmin, Fatima, shamsia and my friends. I have been playing foosball (desktop football) with my mum and I scored 6 goals and my mum got 3. We also made a ramadan calendar and I got to open a present it was a small ice cream van. I miss my friends.

Assiyah - Hi Amanda and Jemima,
Well done Jemima for getting on with planting your seeds. I will start planting my cress seeds in cotton wool, as we don't have any soil at home. Amanda, I am going to try and take more pictures of the cress seeds growing and write a diary!

Well done to Hana and Sara for being able to ride their bikes independently! I have been out once with my bike and still learning to ride it confidently.

I am really excited to start the new book and make my special box. I will keep you posted on how it goes.

Amanda - Ramadan Mubarak Early Years! I hope that this will be a positive time for you all as you spend time with your families safely at home.

Next week, we start a new story which I will be reading to you on video (looking in the wrong direction ... well it was my first attempt reading to a camera - sorry!) Look out for the story via Whatsapp.

Next Thusday's task is to make a 'special box'. To prepare for this, you will need to look out for a box you can use - like an old shoe box for example - which you can decorate. Inside your special box, you can put in things that are special to you, like a favourite toy or pair of socks, a photo or drawing of your family or perhaps a favourite book. So, maybe over the weekend or at the beginning of next week, you can think about starting to collect these things.

Amanda - Well congratulations to Sara and Hana - what an achievement!
I've actually been doing a lot of reading - because reading is important! And while we are on the subject of reading... have you signed up for an Oxford Owl Account yet Early Years? You can access a free online library which will help you practise reading using the phonic sounds that you know. If you don't have an account yet, don't worry - I have put a link in our next Early Years Newsletter.

Aqueddus - Hello children!
Right now I am on my computer working, and weirdly I am missing the noise Year 3, 4 5 and 6 would make when going up to class after break! I am sure once we are back I will be telling them to be quiet in the corridoors again.
Me, Sara and Hana have been keeping busy. Both of them can now confidently ride a bike - whoop whoop!

I wonder how many hours of reading Amanda has done during the closure?

Amanda - Hi Assiyah - it sounds like you are getting to spend some great times with your sister - I bet that she is growing very quickly! And what a fantastic idea to help explore shapes. Maybe we could do more investigations using a camera at home! What do you think?

Hello Jemima! I am so pleased that your cress seeds have grown well and that you are doing more growing with your grandma. I think that we might all have become growing experts by the time we can all meet together again! Oooooh - 'Snap' - that used to be one of my favourite games! Maybe you could teach your friends when we come back to school? And that's great that you are helping your brother to learn sounds - I bet he loves spending time with you.

Jemima - Hi Amanda and everyone :)

I hope everyone is good. I have been doing some planting with my grandma this week to grow some vegetables and my dad bought me some seeds to grow flowers.
Thank you so much for the cress seeds, they have grown a lot.

I have been practicing how to add numbers and made number cards to play snap with my mum which was fun.
My mum and dad are doing their best to be good teachers. My little brother is learning to talk and he says the letter G. I am helping him to make sounds.

I miss everyone and hope to see everyone soon.

Assiyah - Hello Amanda, I have been busy spending time with my baby sister Hannah. She talks to me and she likes playing on her playmat. I have been learning how to add two numbers together and yesterday I did a 2D shape hunt and took pictures of objects on my camera. This was really fun!
I miss my friends and my teachers so much.

Amanda - Hello Early Years!

I hope you are all doing well. Have you seen our first Early Years newsletter yet? If not, don't worry - you soon will, and I am looking forward to hearing all about what you think about the activities.

If there is something would like to say, you can say it right here by making a comment with an adult who can help you. It will be lovely to hear all about what you have been up to at home!

As for me, well, I have been doing a bit of growing actually. I had a few broad bean seeds and some radish seeds and thought I would have a go at planting them. I am just beginning to see shoots now which is really exciting! Maybe I can share some pictures with you soon.

Take care!
