I'm aiming to do 10k next week. I'd like to get my distance back up to half marathon standards! I was meant to do another half marathon on 17th May but obviously that got cancelled. I'd still like to do one by myself!
I haven't met up with lots of my family as they live a bit further away but my sister lives really close so I've seen her a few times in the park which has been lovely :-) Have you met up with any friends or family?

Well done on your fantastic quiz answers too Binyamin! I've given you a dojo :-)) I especially like your example of how to be kind to yourself and the thing you are proud of this week - well done! Very grown up!

I'd love to hear some more examples from anyone who has been following the "7 Days of Kindness Calendar".

Lovely to hear from you Ayden!

That reminds me - you'll see it on next week's newsletter but I'm going to call you all next week (Tuesday or Thursday) and we will have another Zoom on Wednesday. I'm really missing you all and I'm so glad we can keep in touch.

Who else is excited about Eid?

Trinity :-)

Binyamin - Hi Trinity how are you?

Trinity - Monday 18th May 2020

Hello Year 2,

Wow - Usman and Ayden you've got me working hard on your quiz questions! Usman your questions taught me things I didn't know before and Ayden your questions are really putting my knowledge to the test! I thought I was the one who was supposed to give YOU challenges haha! Ayden I've given you a dojo for taking part - that takes you to 150 dojos! Congratulations! When we're back at school you can get your prize :-) Usman you are one away from 150 dojos too (how many is that?) - I'm sure it won't be long until you reach it :-)

Okay here goes. Usman, your quiz first:
1) Starfish's eyes are at the end of their arms (!)
2) I think a turtle has a hard upper shell to protect it from predators (I learned that the upper shell is called a carapace and the lower shell is called a plastron. Completely new words to me!)
3) Jellyfish can be small or large, they are transparent or translucent, they look a bit like soft umbrellas with tentacles! (I learned that a group of jellyfish is called a 'bloom' - so 'a bloom of jellyfish').
4) Pufferfish protect themselves from predators by inflating to up to twice their size. Some have spikes too!
5) The poison in a pufferfish is deadly enough to kill 30 adult humans (!) - I also learned that pufferfish (the non-poisonous parts) are eaten as a delicacy in Japan!

I learned loads - thanks Usman. How did I do?

Okay, now for Ayden's quiz. Here goes!
1) Here are the different types of habitats: Polar, Desert, Rainforest, Ocean, Pond, Coastal, Woodland and Urban
2) Humans can live in polar, desert, (although not many in these habitats!), rainforest and urban habitats. We live in an urban habitat :-)
3) I think the largest habitat must be the ocean because it covers over half of the world! (The Amazon Rainforest is the largest rainforest habitat on Earth!)
4) Hmm, I think the main habitats are: Polar, Desert, Rainforest, Ocean and Urban (I'm not 100% confident on that one!)
5) Yes, the ocean is a habitat

How did I do Ayden? Oof that was hard work! Thanks for putting my knowledge to the test!

I'm looking forward to doing a "zoom" with you all tomorrow - hope to see you there!

Take care,
Trinity :-)

Ayden year 2 - 4.what are the main habitat?
5 Is the ocean a habitat?

Ayden year 2 - 1.what are different types of habitat?
2.what type of habitat do humans live in.?
3. What is the largest habitat on the planet?

Usman rashid - Hello Trinity and year 2,
Hope everyone's ok. I'm also ok, can't wait to see everyone again.
I especially like doing PE with Joe Wicks☺

Trinity - Hi Binyamin - I'm sending the MyMaths login details via WhatsApp :-)

Hi Aqueddus! Good to hear from you on our blog :-D

Congratulations to Sara and Hana on the bike riding!

In answer to your question, I have ran 41km in total since the lockdown (which is 25 and a half miles). I'm very proud of that but the longest run I've done is 11km. I'm hoping to build it back up to half marathon standards! I've been using some of the motivation and encouragement given to me by Year 2. My favourite is "Don't stop when you're tired, stop when you're done". It really helps!

What kind of exercise has everyone else been doing? Who has done PE with Joe Wicks? Who's had a go at some Cosmic Kids Yoga or GoNoodle? There are some links on the newsletter :-)

Let me know!

Trinity :-)

Binyamin - Hi Trinity, I have forgotten all the login details for My Maths, please can you send it to me.
Thank you.

Aqueddus - Hello children!
Right now I am on my computer working, and weirdly I am missing the noise Year 3, 4 5 and 6 would make when going up to class after break! I am sure once we are back I will be telling them to be quiet in the corridoors again.
Me, Sara and Hana have been keeping busy. Both of them can now confidently ride a bike - whoop whoop!

I wonder how many miles of jogging Trinity has done during the closure?

Trinity - Wednesday 22nd April 2020

Hello Year 2,
Happy Wednesday!
Lovely to hear from you Ayden! It was nice to see you enjoying Paul's story :-)
And Binyamin - you're welcome :-) I'll be reading more from the Story Tree book - coming soon...

Usman's mum - good to hear from you. (From what I've seen on the Kobi Updates it looks like you're doing a great job keeping the boys occupied!) I'll send you a message via Whatsapp with the MyMaths log in details but I would say for Usman (and anyone else who's wondering) in terms of which tasks to do: Pick and choose as you wish - variety is probably a good thing. Use the suggested structure on the newsletter (something active, some maths and some English in the morning and something topic based in the afternoon) if that works for you. Go with whatever interests Usman the most and gives him the right level of challenge. Further explanation if it helps:
- The English tasks in the pack are related to what we were doing before the closure. If he is still interested in the book (and remembers the story well), use that. Otherwise, move on to the newsletter tasks. (I will be including a spelling task every week so perhaps make sure he does that).
- The maths tasks in the pack are revision of everything we have covered so far, the newsletter tasks will also be revision/consolidation for now. I'd say the tasks in the pack are a good level for Usman.
- The topic tasks in the pack are also related to our topic from last term. For your afternoon/topic session I would definitely refer to the tasks on the newsletter as they move into Summer Term's topic.
I hope that's helpful. If you have any more questions, please do get in touch.

I hope everyone is doing well. Let us know what you've been up to so far this week!
Trinity :-)

Binyamin - Thanks for the story 👋

Ayden 20 April. - Hi Trinity and everyone

Ayden 20 April. - Hi everyone.

Usman Rashid. - Hi Trinity
This is Usman's mum. He still has work from the pack gave when school closed because it was holiday the past two weeks. So should he still do the tasks you set on the links? And also I don't know usman Mymaths login details.
Thank you

Trinity - Binyamin and Amelia! Our first bloggers - lovely to hear from you!

I'm well thank you. I've been keeping busy. You'll be glad to hear I'm keeping up with my running (I ran 16km in total last week). I've also been doing lots of yoga - my friend teaches an online class :-)

Let me know how you're all keeping active. Have you tried any of the activities suggested on the newsletter?

Trinity :-)

Don't forget to go to Oxford Owl and choose an ebook to read - let me know what you choose and whether you enjoyed it. Here's the link again (it's also in my message on the newsletter): https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page

I hope to hear from you soon,
Trinity :-)

Trinity - Hello Year 2,

I hope you are all doing well. I have been missing you a lot. I’m so excited that we can now keep in touch on our very own blog on the school website! Hooray! I’m really looking forward to hearing from you. I’ve really enjoyed seeing what you’ve been up to via WhatsApp. Please keep uploading the fantastic photos and videos of your home learning and other activities - they really do make me smile!

You can also use the blog to ask me any questions about your learning, let me know which activities you're enjoying or to ask for a challenge! Please keep up with your reading too - go to Oxford Owl where you can read lots of different ebooks for free! You can search for your book band level - let me know what books you choose! Try to read 3 a week. You could even recommend books to others on this blog.

I will re-post the Friday Quiz questions, from the newsletter, here on Friday 24th April for you to answer. I'll let you know the answers on Monday if you can see if you got them all right! (Dojos if you do!)

I look forward to hearing from you. Make sure you at least say hello :-)

In the meantime, stay safe, stay happy and keep learning!

Trinity :-)
